Penelope and Dave Bullock Update
It's been quite some time since we've updated this blog of ours. I would say the top two reasons for that is
Penelope is in the thick of nursing school and I have been busy
programming and
shooting photos.
Penelope has around a month left before she finishes nursing school. She has been working really really hard to become the best nurse possible. She has such a wonderful spirit, the perfect persona to be a nurse. Once she is done with school she will be studying and then taking her NCLEX, the exam which makes one a nurse.
I am so proud of all the hard work she has done. She is really a strong, wonderful woman. She will make a wonderful nurse and mother. Even during her stressful studies and her duties as Student Nursing Association president, she still makes time for me. I'm a very lucky man.
On the weekends, we've been doing our best to get out of the loft and into the wilderness. In the last few months we have backpacked Southern California's tallest peak, San Gorgonio; day hiked Gaviota Peak in the hot Santa Barbara sun; hiked up to the ruins at White City; and hiked Mt. Baldy (which I haven't blogged about yet). We have also been running several times a week around Not A Cornfield.
I have been busy programming at AmericasPrinter.com, we are about to launch our new feature-rich e-commerce website. I have also been doing freelance programming here and there and have been shooting frequently for Wired.com. I recently created a photo portfolio which you can check out here on davebullock.com.
In late January or early February, Penelope and I will be heading out on a road trip to visit some family and spend some time in Death Valley and Tahoe. That will be good fun and we're looking forward to getting away for a bit.
We're going to do our best to update this site more frequently. I have some programming ideas in mind that will pool our blog posts, twitter messages and flickr photos to make the site more useful. Until then, we hope to see you soon in real life!

First Wedding Anniversary
Time flies! One year ago, David and I married in one of our favorite neighborhood spots. It has been an honor to experience life with someone who is profoundly inspiring. It’s been very exciting watch one another progress into nursing and photography, and to co-exist within our rapidly evolving downtown home.
David is an extraordinary person, a loving husband, and an understanding friend. I absolutely love him and look forward to our numerous endeavors =]
We are both taking the day off and will walk over to a local restaurant of choice for dinner that we are crazy about. A hike to Griffith Park Observatory and some fierce scrabbling at the top are also on the agenda (we somehow become addicted to Scrabble during our honeymoon).

Our wedding, reception, and honeymoon = total bliss
Mrs. Bullock has a few words...yes, the most wonderful wedding and reception happened. Everything was perfect...no downpours, no runaway brides/grooms, no strippers jumping out of the cake. Everything seemed to fall into place, as many had predicted.
We got the weather as we had "ordered," a gorgeous summer afternoon with some gentle breezes. Dave looked absolutely amazing in his tux, and I'll never forget how proud he looked when I first approached him. The reception was very touching and was carried off (literally) by the hubbie to take some photos and enjoy what would be the ideal reception. The presence of family members and friends made our celebration unforgettable. We had so many people go out of their way to make things fly, and that was the magic.
We had a wonderful stay at the hotel on our wedding night and left for Fiji the following evening. As far as Fiji is concerned, we couldn't have chosen a better place to honeymoon. Fiji is a very magical place and I am eager to return and blog more in detail about our adventures-so much to say and so many pictures to upload. It was very a romantic honeymoon and treasured every waking moment with Dave. Although it was sad to end our vacation, I returned with a man that I adore, to continue our own paradise with our two kitties.
Here is a site that my dear friend, Wakako, mustered up, and has some terrific photos of the rehearsal as well as the wedding.

We are currently sorting through our photos and our memories and will be posting a complete trip report in the coming days. Thanks again to everyone who made our wedding so special! We love you!

Registry Confusion
A few people (including my mother) have asked us where we are registered, even though we have a Registry section on the wedding page. We are registered at Amazon.com (yes they sell more than books) and Crate & Barrel. So here are direct links to our registries:

Welcome to our wedding site...
Judging from the fact that you have landed on our wedding site, we are guessing you have received your invitation. That is a good thing, proof our postal system is in good working order. We had considered other modes of invitation, such as carrier pigeon, smoke signal and singing telegram, but the error rate was out of our acceptable tolerance range.
We just now realized that in our invitations, we only mentioned this website as a form of response. If you are unable to RSVP via email (wedding@pendave.com), please go ahead and telephone Penelope's mother, Kristen Proffitt, at (714) 534-1286. Prank calls will be frowned upon and will negatively impact your seating arrangements.
For information about the location, accommodations, menu, things to do in the area and the registry, please either click here or on the wedding tab at the top of the page.
We hope you will bless us with your presence on our day of matrimony, July the 9th 2006.

Wedding Invitations Completed
I can hardly believe we've finished all 120 of them! Yes, we decided to go with homemade invitations because wedding invitations are terribly overpriced and often unimaginative. They have also been haunting me for the last 3 weeks.
It was going well until we found a subtle grammatical error once finished (heh heh...so typical of me), and felt compelled to start over again. There was also a glitch in the design, so that had to be changed as well.
Dave's mother's photo is very symbolistic icon for Dave and I-we love flowers and it was taken in 2003 at Echo Park Lake (a spot we are fond of). At first, I wasn't sure why I subjected myself to make an origami heart for each invite, but am so glad I did so. I am so proud of our beautiful work of art! Hooray for us!

Invitations
Yes, the official invitations will be coming to a mailbox near you. We are hand making them-my our own design and photography credits belong to Dave's mother. They are taking a lot of time to make, but we are having fun using our creativity! ;-)

We are currently gathering the content for this site, but soon we will have all of our wedding related posts imported as well as some of our favorite pictures over the years we've known each other.
